- [Voiceover] My name is Taylor Hokanson, and I'm an assistant professor of artat Columbia College Chicago. The art that I make often takes the form of sculpture, yet many of these pieces start out in digital format.Computers are obviously great tools for design, but a few people know how to translate thesedesigns directly into physical objects.Programs like Fusion can be used for design, manufacturing, and all the various stepsthat come in between. In this series, I'll get you up and runningon Autodesk's Fusion 360 software package. There's a lot to discuss,so we'll only touch upon each area briefly.
Fusion is multi-platform, but I'll be workingin the OSX environment, and I'll assume that you'realready comfortable in that operating system.I also highly recommend that you use a three-button mousefor this, and all three-D modeling software. It makes things a lot easier.During the course of this tutorial,I'll also pull media from external sourcesto demonstrate how Fusion handles various file types. So, let's get started.I'm glad to have the opportunityto introduce you to Fusion 360and the exciting world of computer-aided design, manufacturing, and collaboration.

Design differently with Fusion 360. This cloud-powered tool from Autodesk—the makers of AutoCAD, Inventor, and Maya—is the key to instant 3D creativity, used for computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering (CAD, CAM, and CAE). This essential training gives you the expertise to use Fusion 360 to turn your ideas into ready-to-manufacture designs. Nick Kloski provides an overview of all the basic operations in Fusion 360, including sketching, extruding 3D objects from sketches, 3D modeling, sculpting, and surface modeling. He explains the functions of the software, while providing a solid foundation in the basics of effective 3D design. Learn how to plan a project; model your ideas; work with sketches, meshes, and surfaces; generate files for 3D printing; and run simulations on your designs.

- Hi, and welcome to HoneyPoint 3D's Fusion 360 training class. My name is Nick Kloski, one of the co-founders of HoneyPoint 3D and I'm super excited to bring you this class. Let me start off with a story of my own. I am, and always will be, an English major. I graduated college with a degree in English literature, and although I was fortunate to be hired into the technology industry in the dot.com boom, I was never formally trained as a mechanical engineer. Let me tell me what I can do now, though. I can reliably fix and replace most everything that breaks around my house if those broken things are something that can be 3D printed. I can also solve problems around the house using my design skills and my 3D printer. Even if you don't happen to have a 3D printer, knowing how to design models on a computer is a critical step for not only solving household problems, but it would be your ticket to greatness through inventing something that others will want to use and buy. I really enjoy…

Fusion 360 is an awesome tool you can use with your CNC because you can do fancy cuts like 3D curves, slopes, and complex layers. BUT it can also be a little daunting. So we've put together this beginners guide to using Fusion 360 CAM for your CNC.
Before we dive in, here are a couple things to help you follow along. First, a link to the Fusion 360 3D file we're using so you can follow along/poke around:http://a360.co/2CE9Gwv
Second, here are time-stamps for the video for each section we're gonna cover:

Autodesk Fusion 360 is a complex piece of software for modeling both onscreen assets (3D renders and animation) and offscreen physically manufactured elements. It provides parametric tools that allow a designer to edit components as specs change—without starting over from scratch. What's more, projects can be shared among a group of designers using 360's cloud-based design management system.
This course is an overview of the interface and the modeling, sculpting, and rendering workflows in Fusion 360. Taylor Hokanson shows how to import reference images, use the sketching tools, extrude 3D shapes, combine components into assemblies, and render animations that show your designs in action. Plus, learn how to sculpt organic shapes by editing T-Spline forms. This course has everything you need to use Fusion 360 to translate your ideas into elegant CAD drawings and fabrication-ready designs.Related courses
